Timhotel Tour Montparnasse

We were given two single beds, even though our booking showed a double, and the room itself was decent. The hotel is nicely located, about a five-minute walk from the train station. Our main trouble was at reception: after booking through booking.com, we politely asked the night receptionist for a receipt so we could request reimbursement from our company. He refused and shouted that booking.com, not the hotel, had to handle it. We knew we were entitled to an invoice for the room and tried to explain, but got nowhere. The next day, the manager sent us the invoice we needed in a minute. Some people should learn their jobs before shouting at others.

We could hear neighbors using the toilet or shower, and rooms at the front can be a little noisy, but it didn't bother me. The windows kept enough sound out. Check-in was super friendly and checkout was easy. The rooms are basic, in a lovely neighborhood with loads of cafes and restaurants close by.

We lost about an hour trying to sort out the room instead of relaxing. My wife had booked a superior room with a bathtub on the hotel's website and called reception beforehand to confirm it. On arrival, we were given a shower room, and the receptionist said she hadn't known about the request. She insisted it wasn't her fault, said every room was occupied, and told us we could leave if we wanted. Then she accused us of attacking her and pointed out that everything was on surveillance camera, even though we were just asking for what we had paid for. We asked to see other rooms with baths. Arianne, the receptionist, said there was a twin room with a bathtub, but when we went to see it, it also had a shower. She then showed us another room that was occupied, with someone's belongings scattered around. It felt like she was messing with us for fun. We had planned to stay here in October, but now we'll look elsewhere. I'm very disappointed. My wife contacted the person in charge and spoke with a guy called Alexander. We came away feeling they'd deny everything and make us feel guilty for raising complaints, as if we were disturbing them. This was horrible. Better stay away.

There are great restaurants right outside, and several Metro stations are about a five-minute walk away. The service and location were great, but the rooms were small and very mouldy, with mould all along the walls. They weren't very clean either. When we first went in, we found piles of pubic hair on the bathroom floor. We otherwise would have been happy, but the mould and unsanitary room mean I'd probably not stay again.
