Vacation Rental Saint Jacques

We loved being a short walk from Luxembourg Gardens and all the nearby cafés, where we could grab a baguette and coffee. The Latin Quarter location made it easy to get around, and we felt safe in the area. We'd happily book here again if we return to Paris. The hotel had the Parisian boutique feel we wanted, with lots of character and everything very clean. Our room was beautifully decorated, and the beds were comfortable. The wallpaper, bedding, and little details all felt thoughtfully chosen. There was even a treat on the courtesy tray, along with an invitation to enjoy a small bottle of wine in the library. Those gestures made the trip feel special. The front desk team were personal and sincere, and helped us figure out the city. Stefania was our favorite, such a warm personality! What made our five-night stay especially memorable was the care from the staff. The Manager greeted us personally, and we'd found a handwritten note and fresh flowers in our room. She checked in during the stay, and when a small issue came up, handled it fairly and efficiently. After our first breakfast, the kitchen manager remembered where we liked to sit and that we preferred American coffee, and made sure we had it each morning. Stefania at the Front Desk was outstanding. She offered suggestions, printed maps, and explained bus and subway options with a friendly smile. When something came up, she kept working on it until it was resolved in our favor, even after we'd checked out. She clearly cares about her guests, and we're very grateful for how she looked after us. The hotel itself was a calm place to recharge after busy days sightseeing or shopping. It's on a quiet street, with little shops and restaurants nearby and historic sights around the Latin Quarter within walking distance. Our three-person group chose a suite with two rooms and a balcony overlooking the Pantheon, a lovely spot to unwind after exploring. The rooms were tastefully decorated and comfortable in size by Paris standards. We highly recommend the hotel for its care and service.

For 830€ for two nights, this was a disappointing and disrespectful experience. I booked through booking for a room described as having a bathtub, but got a shower instead. The room was also different from the description, small, with old furniture, and on the fifth floor. The elevator got stuck in the morning, so we took the stairs. There was construction right beside the hotel on its left side, which made things uncomfortable. The manager was sour and didn't seem interested in solving our problem. We checked out at 6, and although breakfast was ready, the man wouldn't even let us have a croissant, despite breakfast being included.

The bed and pillows were very comfortable, and the breakfast server was kind and great. The breakfast itself, though, was meagre and wasn't replenished. On our first day, water from the shower flooded the bathroom and ran into the corridor. A woman cleaning the other rooms used towels she'd collected from those rooms to mop up the floor and carpets, which we found disgusting. The manager was helpful and quickly got a plumber to fix the shower. Our room was tiny and short on sockets, and didn't look like the room in the booking photos. In my opinion, this hotel doesn't deserve four stars.
