Victoria Hotel

After 24 hours of nonstop travel, we felt welcome and at home. The room was a nice, simple Parisian space that suited us well. Fantastic shops and beautiful buildings surround it, with the metro and larger train stations not far away. It's a very walkable base if you like exploring towns on foot. Merci.

The location had plenty of food places and shops, with lively nightlife, though getting to tourist attractions means walking or taking a taxi. I could hear people using the toilet through the walls, and the bars outside played music until around 2am, I think. The room was clean but very small, and it needed more pillows. The bathroom was tiny too. I'm 5ft and my knees touched the wall when I sat on the toilet, so taller people, good luck. I felt I paid way too much, though I guess that's just Paris.

At about 2:00 a.m., someone repeatedly tried to open our door, which seriously disrupted our rest and made us feel unsafe. Earlier, the shower head had come off during use, leaving us unable to shower normally and creating a safety risk. We also found that the two room lights didn't work properly on our first day. We asked right away to change rooms, but the hotel refused, saying it was full. There was no charging socket by the bed either, which was inconvenient. Since the equipment, safety, and hygiene problems weren't effectively addressed, we couldn't stay with confidence and had to leave early. The hotel still insists on charging for the nights we didn't stay. The whole experience was disappointing, especially the security problems and the way management handled things.

The room looked onto the hotel entrance, and I woke now and then because of the noise. It was stuffy and the bathroom was so cramped that I thought we might have suffocated if we'd showered. Moving around with one large suitcase and one small one was difficult. We only used the bathroom for the toilet. We needed somewhere for Saturday night. Our other booking in the area had been made months earlier at a different hotel, but this last-minute plan left us choosing this place at a pretty high nightly rate. Everything in Paris is expensive, but paying 150 euros for a place this bad doesn't make sense.
