Villa Beaumarchais

Breakfast fell short, with a small buffet that was sparsely stocked. If you didn’t get there early, the croissants were gone. There’s a little bar, but no food option at the hotel in the evening. Both could definitely be better. We’ve stayed here often in the past, and it remains a favorite mainly for its location and decent rooms. The famous Marais district and Place des Vosges are just a few minutes’ walk away. Paris is easy to explore on foot, and Notre Dame and the Latin Quarter are less than 30 minutes away through lovely streets and shops. Our room was a good size for Paris, spotless, and nicely fitted.

The bathroom was the main drawback. Getting out of the high bathtub was quite a step, and the water took a while to heat up and wasn’t consistently hot. Once the bathroom got steamy, the ventilation was limited and the mirror stayed foggy for ages. Small issues, but not our favorite. The room was clean, though its carpet was worn and stained and could use some work. The hotel itself is beautiful, and the staff were incredible. We could store our luggage on arrival, and because we booked direct, breakfast was included. It was a typical European breakfast, enough to get the day started.

The garbage bins right outside took away a little from the otherwise elegant feel. Apart from that, this charming boutique hotel sits in the heart of Le Marais, on a quiet street near cafes, shops, and metro stations. It’s easy to explore Paris on foot from there. The place has a peaceful, cozy riad-style feel, a little like Morocco, and lots of character. Our room was small but comfortable and nicely decorated. The staff stood out as friendly, welcoming, and always ready to help. Breakfast was very good, served in a lovely glass-roofed room full of natural light.

The best thing is the location, with easy access to shopping and the metro. Le Marais has better and worse hotels, and I might stay here again if the price were right. The rooms are okay for the price, if a little small, which is normal in Paris. But after a long day out, the electrical breaker malfunctioned and we had to change rooms at 11pm. No room upgrade or other compensation was offered for the inconvenience. The replacement room was slightly smaller, its shower head wouldn’t stay up, and a cobweb on the ceiling was still there after three separate cleanings. The staff were friendly, but didn’t seem well supported by management. At checkout, the room change hadn’t been communicated, so it took about 15 minutes to get cleared to leave, most of it spent with the hostess trying to reach the manager. None of this was a huge deal on its own, but little things like that leave a strong impression of the property.
