Villa Luxembourg

The price was like a five-star hotel, but the place felt hostel-level at best. We spent three nights there and could barely sleep, with noise so bad we only managed about three hours from around 3 a.m. The rooms had broken lamps, doors, beds, and other things. Staff were the least reliable and friendly I’ve encountered. They promised to move us and told us to come back in the evening, saying the rooms would be ready. When we returned, they said they hadn’t done anything and that this was just how it was. Don’t stay here, even if your life depends on it.

Restaurants and transit stops surround the hotel, and Luxembourg Gardens are only a few minutes away on foot. The location is great. Our room was a decent size, if a little old and dirty, but the bed was clean and comfortable, which mattered most to me. If the price is low and you can keep your expectations in check, I’d say go for it.

We had a confirmed booking and had paid, but the hotel was overbooked and had no room for us. We arrived late on New Year’s Eve with children and ended up out on the street in the middle of the night. There was no realistic chance of finding another room in Paris at such short notice. Neither the manager nor the staff offered a suitable solution. They tried to talk their way out of it with lies. A complete disaster, especially for international travelers. I wouldn’t give it a star.

The location near Metro lines was convenient, but the condition of the hotel was laughable for the price. It was badly maintained and breakfast choices were minimal. I was first checked into the wrong room. It had no sheets and belongings left behind, so they moved me to another room that was much smaller and smelled strongly of smoke. My key card kept working for both rooms, which was worrying. A watch was stolen from my room during the stay. I can’t recommend this place.
