VLH Montparnasse Eiffel

The location made us feel safe, with lots of good places to eat nearby, and the Eiffel Tower is just a short hop away. We loved the hotel for a two-person trip. Our room was snug but had a comfortable bed and a big TV. The bathroom was small too, but had what we needed, and there was unlimited hot water. Highly recommend it.

The noise from the cleaning staff early in the morning was another problem: they shouted and laughed loudly from room to room while guests were still sleeping. More seriously, during our four-day stay we couldn't get hot water for showers. We reported it every day. One receptionist kept saying a technician was fixing it, but neither the shower nor tap on the second floor ever got hot, though we were told it worked on the ground floor. A few days later, a second receptionist said by phone that the matter would go to the manager. We never got an explanation or follow-up, and felt ignored and not taken seriously. Guests pay for basic services, and I don't think it's acceptable to host people without hot water or a willingness to address the problem. A very poor stay that fell short of basic hotel standards.

Getting in and out was a constant hassle. The main entrance doesn't open with the room key, and you need reception staff to unlock it. They often weren't there, so we were left waiting outside for a long time. On checkout day, even though checkout was 11:00 a.m. and we'd clearly put up a “Do Not Disturb” sign, housekeeping opened our door at 9:30 a.m. without permission. That felt like a serious invasion of privacy. The first night was also awful: it was –1°C, and there was no hot water in our room. The front desk said it would be fixed “soon,” but nothing had changed by 11 p.m. When I asked again, they said repairs wouldn't happen until 1 or 2 a.m. They were dismissive and unfriendly, and said the whole building had the same problem, as if that made it acceptable. I absolutely do not recommend this place. If I could give negative stars, I'd happily give minus ten.

My mom and I had one of our sweetest holidays here. We fell in love with both Paris and the hotel, and finishing our Europe trip here was the best choice. The hotel is small, which made it feel special and comfortable. Even when it was full, we barely ran into other guests, almost as if the place belonged to us. Our room was not big, but that is normal for Paris, and we were really charmed by how cute and cosy it felt. It was clear how much care and skill went into making a little space convenient and harmonious. The people made it especially lovely: everyone was polite, kind, respectful, welcoming, and eager to help with anything we needed. Housekeeping kept our room neat and clean every day, and they work hard. The location is great, with markets, shops, cafes, and boulangerie nearby and two metro lines a short walk away. We could reach most sights quickly. We walked to the Eiffel Tower nearly every evening, about 15-20 minutes, to watch the sparkles and enjoy the architecture. Paris is brilliant, like an open-air museum, and stole our hearts. We didn't want to leave. I hope the hotel does well and welcomes many kind, grateful guests. Hope to come back very soon. Bisous!
