WS - Haut-Marais - Carreau du Temple

My boyfriend and I had to leave as soon as we arrived. There was an unbearable smell, the curtains were torn, there was no privacy, and the room looked nothing like the photos. We had to go out into the snow and freezing cold, which caused a lot of stress and inconvenience. This place is misleading and unacceptable. I can’t recommend it. Avoid.

DO NOT STAY HERE. The apartment instructions were wrong, and the mistake was still there even though someone had already mentioned it. If you do stay, go into the RIGHT side of the building, not the left. The place smelled of sewage, and I contacted the host four times without getting a reply until the morning we checked out. It was appalling and disgusting to pay an extortionate price for an apartment smelling of faeces and urine. Update: About three weeks ago, a woman named Patricia called to apologize for the room’s condition and said they’d fixed the problem. They offered a small refund, but only if I removed my Booking.com review. I was hesitant, but did take it down. Since then they’ve ignored my emails and blocked me on WhatsApp, and I haven’t received the refund. Well done, WS apartments, for being MERDE.

The apartment is extremely tiny, though the rooms were neat and clean. Getting checked in was horrible: there’s nobody to help in person, only a WhatsApp number that you can’t call, and replies are slow. We had trouble with the hot water and got no response for five hours. At least the Metro is well connected.

The curtains didn’t fit properly, so they let the street light through, and a terrible sewage smell kept us awake all night. I complained and was offered 20 euros, which was ridiculous. Even after a month of emails and calls, the company showed no sympathy. I travel to Paris for work regularly and haven’t seen service this poor or so little consideration. Do yourself a favour and avoid it.
