WS Hôtel de Ville - Beaubourg

The company was very nice and responsive, and self check-in worked perfectly. For Paris, the price is reasonable for this location. It could work for a short stay if you’re hardly in the room, but I imagine summer would be awful. I’d read the reviews and was prepared, especially because the hotel’s pictures make the rooms look much bigger. There’s no natural ventilation, so the room and even the whole floor felt damp and unpleasant. The bathroom had no ventilation either, which I think is quite dangerous. The bed was a cheap fold-out, and street noise made it hard to sleep without earplugs.

A great location, and for the price it does the job. The room smelled of something, though I don’t know if it was the cleaning products or something else. I called twice and got an answer both times, so I’m glad they picked up.

We canceled the rest of our booking because the room was unbearable, but they told us there would be no refund. We’ve been trying to get some money back for weeks, and the accommodation has simply stopped answering. In the room, the fan was wired to the lights, so using it at night meant switching on every light. We asked several times for a portable fan because it was impossible to sleep or even stay in the room for long, but they never provided one. We visited in summer, and this was the first bad accommodation review I’ve ever left. That says a lot about how bad the place and customer service were, and how little they seemed to care about guests.

The room and kitchen area were mostly clean, and the price was very affordable. Still, my husband and I wouldn’t stay again. The apartment door opened straight into the kitchenette beside the bathroom, with no entry space to take off shoes before bringing Paris street dirt inside. In the small bathroom, the shower pressure was low and the controls seemed to swing between cold and scalding. It needed fresh paint, new caulking, and a good scrub of the floor grout, and there was no fan. The double bed was wedged beside a radiator and one wall, leaving about 9 inches on the other side. The large window next to it let in a lot of street noise from a very busy road. The lobby was grubby and needed cleaning and repairs. Its poorly placed sensor lights weren’t enough to see by when entering in the evening, and on two of the three evenings the third-floor landing lights were out. I had to use my phone light to enter the door code. There were three codes in total, for the lobby, floor, and apartment. The location is handy, just steps from Centre de Pompidou.
