WS Montparnasse - Maine

The room was broken into while we were out, and a backpack, some clothes, and a pair of shoes were stolen. The manager told us there were no security cameras and they couldn't help. The police weren't very helpful either. The food was good, the place was generally clean, and it's in a good location next to a train station, but the break-in made the stay only acceptable. Be extremely careful with your belongings.

The night receptionist and the evening check-in staff were welcoming, but the morning receptionist was quite rude. When we went to get cups from the kitchen area, he followed us and asked what we wanted in a very unfriendly way. The rooms were very small, the toilets were unclean, and the website pictures were deceiving. The lifts weren't working, so I don't know how someone is supposed to carry their luggage up or down the stairs. Very disappointing!

We booked three rooms for August 1-4, including one at a higher rate for an extra bed. When we arrived after midnight, none of the rooms had the extra bed we had reserved. Staff said they had no larger rooms available because of a water leak. Over the next two days, they promised to refund the extra bed charges, but a month later we still hadn't received it. All three rooms were extremely small, and the bathrooms had no ventilation. The advertised balconies weren't there either, just windows facing another building. The staff were polite, but the misleading advertising, poor rooms, and unfulfilled refund promise made this a very disappointing stay. I don't recommend this hotel.

When I arrived, the hallway to my room was cluttered with laundry and even food on the floor. It was still like that when I left, and I took a photo showing the laundry scattered in the corridor. The room smelled strongly and unpleasantly, and its dirty carpet made the space feel suffocating. Cleanliness and hygiene were well below standard. I wouldn't recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a comfortable, clean place.
