Best Western Plus Pays du Mont Blanc

We spent a while trying to find the hotel because it seems to be going through a rebrand. Its old name was still on the building, and there was nothing saying Best Western. A temporary sign might help. Once we found it, we had a great stay. The staff were very kind, the bed was large and comfortable, and the bedroom and bathroom were spacious. There were also tea and coffee facilities and a fantastic mountain view.

Dinner at the restaurant was delicious, though breakfast was very basic. We were told the pool and sauna would open at 10 AM, but they were too cold to use. For what we paid, I expected more. We chose the hotel mainly for its location, and the spacious parking and room were a plus. Check-in was smooth, but the room felt dull and had an odd smell. There was dust around the bed and on the balcony furniture, and the sheets were clean but had an old stain.

We stopped here for a night on our drive from Vienna to southern France. The place has a lot of character and was very comfortable, even if it isn’t exactly luxurious. It feels privately owned, and you can see the owners have put a lot of love and effort into it. A pleasant change from the sterile, uninspired hotel rooms you come across in the US.

The communal lounge in our block came in handy, with games, books and a shared kitchenette. We also had a lovely meal in the restaurant, with very generous portions, and the pool stayed open late, which was great after skiing. We spent a wonderful week here with the family over New Year. The location made it easy to get to Chamonix, Les Houches and Plaine Joux. Our room was clean and modern, and the balcony had lovely views. The stay had everything we were hoping for.
