Camping U Sole Marinu

This June didn't work out nearly as well as our stay last May. Back then the campsite was only moderately busy and the restrooms were clean. This time it wasn't full yet, but it felt much busier, and some toilets and showers were dirtier than they should have been. The pitches are spacious, though the overgrown brush can scratch vehicles wider than 2 meters, depending on where you park. The showers were also noisy, with constant beeping, especially in the afternoon. After a minute, they warn that the water is about to shut off, and with around 10 showers running at once, it never seemed to stop. We left after one night with a few scratches on the vehicle and a disappointing impression of the campsite.

This is a quiet, cute campsite where you can still get some privacy, which isn't true of many sites. It's right by the beach, though the beach isn't sandy, and reception staff were very friendly. The toilets and showers were clean. You get 6 minutes of shower time per person for free, then have to reload the card to stay longer. You can drive to Nonza (15km), Saint Florent (8km), or Patrimonio (4km) for wine. There's nowhere nearby to go on foot unless you're hiking along the coast, and the roads have no sidewalks. If you want to go out much, you'll need at least a bike or car. We had a great stay and I'd recommend the campsite and return.

The camp itself is comfortable, and the staff are amazing, a word I don't use lightly. I really like this place, but two drawbacks matter if you're staying longer. The beach was the worst I visited in Corsica, with a very uncomfortable stony entry into the water and lots of seaweed. The shower policy also seems to do more damage to the place's reputation than good. It's excellent for a short stay, but I wouldn't stay longer.

There are shady pitches for both campers and tents, and we could choose any available spot when we arrived to a very warm welcome. The bathrooms and toilets are basic but very clean and tidy. A little shop at reception has essentials like baguette, dairy products, wine, and other things, including local Patrimoniu wine. The nearby beach is nice, though rocks and stones mean you'll want bathing shoes. There's also a playground for little kids. A very nice, quiet campsite and well worth a visit!
