B&B HOTEL PAU Zénith

We’ve stayed here before and things have usually been fine, but this time we couldn’t get into the hotel. We arrived just after 9pm, already checked in online, so we had our room number and entry code. The code wouldn’t unlock the front door. Reception was closed, and no one answered the first time we called the 24/7 help point. On the second try someone picked up, confirmed the code was right, and had us try it several more times, still with no luck. It seemed the keypad’s 2 key was faulty, and our code had two 2s in it. The man on the help line gave us another code, which finally worked. Since we had to go back to the car for our bags, one of us stayed inside to let the other back in. Other guests were having the same problem, and we had to let them in as well. Our ground-floor room was the accessible type. We’d booked twin beds but got a double, which didn’t bother us, though it might be an issue for other guests. There was plenty of floor space, but the person sleeping by the window had very little room between the bed and the wall. It doesn’t seem properly wheelchair-friendly unless you sleep on the right side of the bed. The room’s heating wasn’t working, so an oil-filled heater had been left there, and the heating control had exposed wires. The bathroom was roomy and had a hair dryer, which was a welcome extra for a B&B hotel. Since it’s a wet room, though, a mop or squeegee would’ve helped with the water left on the floor after a shower. We had to keep our shoes on in there to avoid getting our feet wet.
