Invitation au Rivage

I had a lovely short break at Alain's B&B. The rooms were quiet and comfortable, and the place is in a peaceful, not-too-touristy area near the sea. Breakfast was delicious, and the host took great care of the service. It's worth knowing the phone connection isn't good, but that made it a great place to switch off. Very good value for money.

We really appreciated being able to use the kitchen area, which let us enjoy the setting in peace. The common room is bright and cozy, the rooms are comfortable, and breakfast was very good, with lovely bread and homemade yogurt. The setting is magnificent. A big thank you to the hosts for the warm welcome.

I booked two nights for a July weekend because of my cousin's wedding. Later I became pregnant, was put on bed rest, and wasn't allowed to travel, so I cancelled about ten days beforehand. I only got 50% of the booking amount back. Since this was for medical reasons, I asked the owner whether we could agree on a full refund, but he refused. I then found someone to take my place and called the day before to ask about filling the empty room. The owner told me it had already been booked. I asked if I could get my money back since I wouldn't be coming and the room was occupied, but no, there was no discussion. I found the lack of kindness and understanding hard to accept when I was already dealing with a difficult situation. It's a shame, because the place seems like a pleasant B&B, but this lack of humanity has put me off, and I don't recommend it.

It's a lovely, quiet place for getting away from the busy pace of everyday life. The rooms all open onto a shared area, and breakfast is taken with several other guests. The spot is in the owners' garden, and the sea is quite close, especially at high tide. There's not much entertainment around, but there are some nice walks nearby.
