Bastide Le Petit Clos

La Bastide du Petit Clos was a lovely place for a family stay. The cottages are well equipped, and we slept soundly in the comfortable beds. It’s a nice spot, not far from the beaches or Perpignan. Our hosts were helpful while also giving us space. We’ll remember this place!

The location is good and the area is quiet, but our stay was a disappointment. The property is a large house split into two units. One is on a single level, with two bedrooms, a bathroom, a toilet, and a kitchen. The other has three floors, with a kitchen downstairs and a bathroom, toilet, and two bedrooms on each floor. The bedding and towels were very good, but the rest was poorly maintained and poorly cleaned. The floorboards creak so badly that it’s impossible to sleep. There was limescale all over the shower door, a broken shower head, no soap, and loose furniture handles. The air conditioners and remotes were dirty, and there are no TVs in the villas. We were also told to strip the beds before leaving, which is ridiculous for the price, and not to park in the huge private courtyard. The villas had significant leaks in the showers and kitchens in two out of three cases, so we had to collect the dripping water in a bucket. The last villa is a beautifully renovated barn, but the damp smell was unbearable and felt like it was suffocating us. The garden was generally neglected too.

The cottage was spacious and comfortable, with fantastic beds and a lovely garden. We had a wonderful stay, and the surroundings were beautiful. The owners were very friendly. I highly recommend it.

I’ve had the pleasure of staying at what I’d call the most refined four-star guesthouse. The owners were welcoming and considerate of the peaceful atmosphere at this bastide. The Pyrénées-Orientales is a great department for a cultural holiday. Thank you for your hospitality.
