Le Melanze

I was there for about 10 minutes before deciding I couldn't stay. The place was dirty, there were spiders, the air conditioning smelled awful, and the Wi-Fi was weak or absent. I couldn't lock the door, either. The photos didn't match what I found, and communicating with the owner was terrible. I tried to get my money back, but they refused under the stated conditions. It felt like a tourist scam. Choose somewhere else.

At 50 euros, I expected at least clean sheets and a usable shower. Instead, the hygiene was horrible and there was a bad smell. There were little bugs too, though I know that part is just nature. I booked it as a hotel because that's how it was listed, but it felt like a basic lodge without the nice touches of a professional hotel. I only wanted somewhere cheap for one night, and ended up disappointed.

We had planned to stay on Wednesday night, but had to cancel on Monday at 2 p.m. because of a death. The person we spoke to wouldn't hear us out, and we still had to pay for the whole night for two adults. So much for the human side, especially when money is involved.

The room was clean and the bed was comfortable, and our stay at MélanZé went really well. I got to know the owner better on our second evening. She was warm, attentive to her guests' comfort, and Stéphanie was available if we needed anything. One thing to prepare for: mosquitoes had taken over the little garden area by the room. The owner said they came from the abandoned land behind the property and that it wasn't her responsibility. Bring repellent if you'll be outside. Other review sites are very positive too.
