We paid over €500 for three people, and I expected far more for that. We would have left straight away if we’d found somewhere else for the four nights. On the first day, my wife wanted to warm up some chicken in the microwave, and the host shouted, complained, and swore at her. He stopped when I came into the kitchen to see what was going on. He even suggested we leave. The rooms were at the back of the main house, up a long flight of stairs. The stair light was broken the whole time, so we had to use our phones to see. My 84-year-old mother was with us, and I’d hoped for a quiet, rustic stay for our first visit to Normandy. The rooms were cold in October, the bedding felt damp and hadn’t been refreshed, and the heating was off. The host said it was 18°C in his home, while my wife wore her coat at breakfast. On the second night they did turn the heat on, but it was so low it barely helped. That was the only night they did. Breakfast was just bread, butter, jam, orange juice, and very bad coffee. We ended up buying eggs and ham at a supermarket so we’d have more to eat in the mornings. The owners were rude, and they stood watching us while we ate. Even one star feels undeserved.

A quiet, clean place with a traditional feel. Excellent.

This was the most expensive of the seven B&Bs we stayed at in Normandy and Brittany, and by far the worst. There was no kettle, tea, or coffee in the room, no soap in the shower room, and nothing to use for brushing our teeth, not even a glass. The shower hose leaked and the grout was black. We also had to ask for more toilet paper, and the towels were rough. Breakfast was very basic: a hot drink, bread, butter, one kind of jam, and industrial orange juice. Shameful.

We stayed here three years ago and are definitely coming back. The room was spotless, the owner gave us a charming welcome, and it was great value for money. Perfect! The Montargis locals with lentils 😉

For a first weekend in the region, the hosts gave us lots of useful information about the area and were very friendly. We had a simple double room with a private bathroom at a reasonable price. Fresh bread was served at breakfast each morning. I’d definitely come back.
