Premiere Classe Plaisir

In Room 101 the AC doesn't work, which is rough if you're trying to sleep in summer heat. Reception isn't staffed for room changes if you arrive too late, so check the AC early.

The WiFi was free, steady, and really fast, and the coffee tasted good. The rest was rough: the tiny room was dirty and so cramped I could hardly move. The air conditioning had two modes, off or freezing. Breakfast was just stale bread with sweet toppings and/or cheese, with no meat or eggs. I'd avoid it.

We only wanted a basic, clean room for the night since we knew it was a budget hotel. Instead, the room smelled unbearably of cigarettes, even though there was a large “non smoking” label on the door. There was cigarette ash on the floor and dust under the bed. At 36 degrees outside, opening the door for air wasn't an option, and while the air conditioning worked, it couldn't cool the room enough or clear the smell. We lasted about an hour before giving up on spending the night there. Since it was already nighttime, we were too tired and busy finding another hotel to contact consumer protection, and the automatic reception was no help when we wanted to ask for a refund. We had to pay for another place. “Plaisir” and the city name felt a long way from the reality of what was offered. It was a horrible experience, and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone.

If you can spend a few extra euros, try the hotel two minutes down the road. This place is very basic, and the reception staff were rude. On the ground floor, the maids woke me at 6am and kept making noise without considering the guests.
