Manoir de Kerhuel

Very disappointing from start to finish. I arrived first, yet every other table was served before mine. Menus went to everyone except me, so I had to get one myself. Then I waited 27 minutes before anyone took my order, and had to ask for the wine list because nobody offered it. After the starter, they put the used fork back on the table. The dishes came with no explanation, the staff couldn’t speak English, and nobody even gave a friendly smile. The reception was just as bad. My room had no proper windows with a view, just two very small ones high up near the ceiling. Lousy service! 🤬

We paid €150 a night for a small, unimpressive room in one of the cottages. Maybe the wedding guests got the good rooms. If we hadn’t already paid, we’d have left. At this price, I’d rather stay somewhere more basic and pay less, or spend more for a better place. The main problem is that this isn’t a hotel for regular guests. Wedding parties have exclusive use of the grounds until after 5, so you’re sent away to the local town and can’t eat or drink at the hotel in the meantime. You feel unwelcome. And check-in at 17.00? I’ve stayed in thousands of hotels and never seen that. It feels arrogant and pointless. Hire more cleaning staff and make the rooms available earlier. Make guests feel welcome! A really, really disappointing start to our time in Bretagne.

I had a great time there. The breakfast was amazing, with all kinds of crepes. Yummy! It’s a great place to host weddings.

Our dinner was a pure delight. Every part of the meal was explained, and they answered all our questions. The restaurant met and even exceeded our expectations.
