I've had few hotel stays this good. The views are incredible, everyone is so friendly, and the meals we tried were great. The breakfast buffet was especially good. The bartender made the bar a highlight, too. He was charming, knew his spirits, spoke perfect English, and explained each one he poured. It made the drinks feel like an experience of their own. I also left a pricey ring in my room. I wasn't sure I'd get it back, but they replied quickly to my email and arranged to send it to me. 10/10.
We stayed in the honeymoon suite, though we're not newlyweds. It's a spacious, well laid out room with the amenities you'd expect in France and a large balcony facing the water. The king-sized bed was among the most comfortable we've slept in for years, and its position lets you see the ocean. There's a full-sized jacuzzi bathtub and a double shower, plus robes and flip-flops if you want to use the spa. Maude, the general manager, knows the area well and is generous with her time. She walked us around the property to show us the amenities and checked on us in the restaurant and bar. Her staff respect and trust her, and it shows. Rain kept us indoors on our first day in Brittany, as it often does at that time of year, but we could still take in the waves from the oceanfront bar. Hassan was an amazing barman. When we asked him to surprise us with a drink, he rose to the challenge, and the drinks and conversation were both great. At dinner, Ganel kept an eye on every detail. Our glasses, plates, bread basket, and butter dish never ran low. He read us well, gave meal recommendations, and paired the wine. We started with a charcuterie board of cheeses, charcuterie, and homemade terrine, all delicious. My veal with mushroom sauce and vegetables was so tender, and the sauce was scrumptious. I had little room for dessert after that, but the chocolate mousse I took from my friend was to die for. This is a great hotel on the water, with amazing staff. If you're in town, stay here, or make the detour even just for a drink. It's worth it.
We had a wonderful week at Hotel De La Mer. My wife and little boy stayed in room 105, next to my Premium Sea view room, 104, and a connecting door joined them. Both were spotless, tastefully decorated, and had lovely sea views through tall windows that open. The hotel has just reopened after a major refurbishment and is beautifully appointed. There were a couple of small snags: the stick-on soap dispenser in my shower came off the wall, and the screwed-in one by my wife's basin came out too. They may need a better fix for the long term. The hotel has laundry service; an iron and ironing board in each room would also be handy for clothes straight from a suitcase. Milk with the coffee would be nice as well. The combined dining room and bar is a lovely space. Breakfast was very good, and dinner was outstanding. The hotel seems keen to get recognition for its food, and I wouldn't be surprised if its restaurant appears in the Michelin guide before long. This is a wonderful hotel in a quiet, idyllic stretch of the north Brittany coast, with spectacular beaches nearby. We can't wait to return, and I'd recommend it to anyone looking for a quiet stay by the sea.
The coastline is stunning, with turquoise water, rocks, lighthouses, seagulls and even seals. Its curves mean you can see the sun rise and set over the sea. The hotel feels just as magical: lovely decor, a cozy room, a delicious restaurant and pastries, and a wonderfully kind, dedicated team who seem able to make anything happen with a smile. We had a fantastic stay in every way. Thank you so much!
We had a good stay for two nights on Demi-Pension, though the restaurant didn't live up to its claims. The food was very average, and the fixed menu had no choices. Nobody made that clear when we booked, and it was the same both evenings. If you asked or pushed, other dishes could be provided, but reluctantly. Breakfast was good. Evening waitstaff in the main restaurant weren't charming and did little to make guests feel welcome, while the bistro and bar staff were excellent and charming. The setting is wonderful, with beautiful beach views. Our room was comfortable but rather dull, and the hotel felt a bit faded despite saying it had recently been redecorated. Sea-view rooms have lovely views. The Demi-Pension terms should be made clear when booking.
