La solitude

There was no parking, so with a rental car we had to look for a spot on the street, which didn’t feel safe or convenient. The neighborhood also made us feel uneasy. Inside, the apartment was dirty and neglected, with rubbish bags, damaged furniture, and poor upkeep. It looked nothing like the listing photos, especially for what we paid. We also found out only after arriving that there were no windows, a major detail missing from the listing. When we raised all this, the landlord was inflexible and threatening, denied there was a problem, and offered neither a fix nor compensation. A very disappointing stay. We can’t recommend it.

The room’s so-called city view faced a dilapidated building, and the place was poorly maintained. A loose shower bar fell on my son’s head, the sofa was dirty and used as a bed, and we had to complain before getting sheets and towels. The manager’s disorganization cost us an entire afternoon: we were told we could keep our original room, then had to leave when new guests arrived, without being given another room right away. The manager wasn’t there and sent a representative with an intimidating person to negotiate, which felt awful. The area didn’t feel safe at night, with prostitution nearby. We got no compensation, and the manager even tried to charge us extra for cleaning the room we’d been told to vacate. We had a very bad experience and don’t recommend this hotel in Pointe-à-Pitre.

We turned up late in the evening with four people and no plan. One phone call later, we had a decent apartment for the night. Thank you!
