Habitation Caféière Samana Beauséjour

The infinity pool and sunset views were spectacular, and we loved the plunge pool for cooling off at The Cottage. We also made good use of the well equipped outdoor kitchen to cook fish we bought at the local market. Didier and Etienne made the evenings feel like meals with old friends, and they're both skilled chefs, so we'd recommend eating at the residence when they're cooking. Breakfast was a lovely start to the day, especially with the biggest tea collection we've ever seen. The place has a real family feel, and we appreciated that they spoke English with us and helped us practice our French. The Cottage had great facilities and plenty of privacy. We enjoyed meeting their pets, who were always happy to see us. Didier and Etienne have made Habitation Cafeiere Samana Beausejour a magical place, and we'd highly recommend it as a base for exploring Basse Terre. The local roads are challenging in the mountains, and the drive up to the residence is no exception, so a powerful car is a good idea. The views over the ocean from the infinity pool were breathtaking, especially at sunset, and the garden felt like a peaceful oasis. We spent 11 nights with Didier and Etienne and enjoyed every minute. They made us feel like friends and gave us great suggestions for restaurants, beaches, and excursions. The room was spotless, with carefully chosen, high quality decor and thoughtful details throughout the estate. We also had dinner at the Table d’hôte and loved both the taste and quality of the dishes. Of the three places we stayed in Guadeloupe, this was easily our favorite. The surroundings are lush and full of nature, and the property feels like a luxurious escape. Everything, from the rooms and shared spaces to the food, was high quality, with great care given to the details. Breakfast was excellent each morning, and the friendly, attentive hosts got to know our preferences as we went along. Highly recommend!

We really appreciated how comfortable Didier and Etienne made us feel, including speaking English with us. We'll work on our French before next time. Their resident boxer, Poyo, greeted us warmly, along with his two lovely feline companions. Being around such gentle animals helped me relax. The place was a highlight of our four stays across both sides of Guadeloupe. Didier and Etienne have put so much thought into it, from environmental impact and cultivating the grounds to the interior design and their French and Creole inspired food. It feels like sharing a bit of the paradise they've worked hard to create. The pool area is picturesque, with stunning views, and we enjoyed the hosted ‘house table’ dinners and trying local dishes we hadn't encountered before. Didier also took time to show us the grounds and explain the vanilla and coffee he's growing, along with plans to expand. As someone who lives in a city, it was fascinating to see how these supermarket ingredients grow and how much work goes into producing them. Our room was spotless and carefully finished, and the balcony hot tub was wonderful, especially with the sea and sunset views. I loved our stay and hope we can visit again. Thank you.
