Campanile NATURE - Poitiers Sud Aéroport

For a good price, we got a clean room with everything we needed, plus a good shower and bed. A handy place to stop and sleep on a road trip.

The room itself was basic but good, and check-in staff were helpful. The problem was a full fire drill at 9am, complete with smoke and a burning plastic smell. We evacuated without getting to shower or use the bathroom, and only at checkout, in another building, did they tell us it had been a test. We were meant to check out later, so they should have let us know it was a drill.

We ended up leaving without staying. The first room was clearly used and hadn't been cleaned; the replacement had just one bed for the two of us, and its key didn't work. Getting our cash refund took 45 minutes. The man on duty was training and had been left alone, which I felt bad about. Leaving a trainee by himself for 12 hours is completely unprofessional. I won't return and can't recommend it. There also seemed to be someone living in a car in the parking area, though I'm not completely sure.

The service was really poor. They made us wait outside because the floor had just been cleaned, then gave us a room with someone already asleep in it. Imagine lying there and having a stranger suddenly open your door. The hotel is old and badly maintained. It may be a Campanile, but I've stayed at much better Campaniles.
