I almost had to sleep outside. I was on foot, hiking, when they cancelled my reservation at 3:30 p.m., supposedly because the boiler had broken down. After that, they stopped replying when there was a problem, and my last message got no answer. This felt like a ghost hotel. They sell beds without even being in France and fill their pockets at tourists' expense. Absolutely do not stay here.
We contacted the new managers about catering for our son's christening, with 50 people expected. The manager suggested a menu when we met and said she'd send a quote soon. After three weeks of chasing her, she finally said they couldn't manage it because they'd need too many staff. Supposedly they specialize in group meals. The remote management was appalling, and the whole thing felt unprofessional.
This hotel is showing its age and needs updating. We wondered whether the decorative touches might be original, but in any case, in our opinion, they're at least 40 years old.
Jean-Claude and his sister thankfully welcomed us the old-fashioned way. The staff were wonderful, the meal was excellent, and breakfast was very good and generous. But the remote management really needs to react and follow through. We were supposed to get a text with the access codes and room numbers on the morning we arrived, and nobody got one. Dinner booking was the same story. If you say you'll do these things, please do them.
We never went to see the room. The place seemed old-fashioned, even gloomy, and the pre-prepared breakfast dishes weren't appetizing. The staff were unbelievable, shirtless and unable to take a reservation. We felt like we were bothering them.
