Camping Domaine de Kerlann

The one thing that hasn't changed is Rospico beach, and Concarneu was just as lovely too. But our return visit after 28 years, when the site was run by Siblu Haven, was a letdown. The campsite part has completely disappeared, though the shower and toilet block is still there. It used to feel welcoming, with staff walking around daily to invite people to activities and get everyone involved. Now you hardly see them unless they're speeding by in a golf trolley. We stayed in a basic caravan and paid for bedding, but it was poor quality and grubby, so I went to le clerc and bought new bedding. The bed was uncomfortable, and acorns kept dropping and banging on the roof. Our neighbours played music and watched TV late into the night, and we were so close we could hear every word. It feels more like an American caravan home than a holiday park. If you bought a caravan in September, check underneath: the guys moving the vans scraped every speed bump instead of going over gently. We ate at the onsite restaurant once. The food was overcooked ping ping food.

We visited as guests to look at the mobile homes and really liked one of them, a proper tiny home. We might buy one next year and give that experience a try. The village was lively, with pools, bars, ping pong, shows, and more.

Our three-year-old loved the playgrounds and the bubbles room, and she could easily spend 90 minutes with us in the indoor pools. The pool facilities were great and well looked after. We were there as a family with two parents and our child, staying in one of the premium cabins, which was modern and clean. The restaurant food was top class, better than I would have expected in a holiday village. You must eat there 😋

I was glad to get off the site. I came back to Kerlann last week for a visit, after spending 17 years there, up to ten years ago, and I was hugely disappointed. Caravans have been crammed into every available space, with far too many squeezed into areas that are too small. It was dreadful, nowhere near as good as the site where we enjoyed 17 wonderful years. It looks like greed has taken over at the expense of space.
