Dinner at L'Ambroisie was the highlight of my walking pilgrimage from Rouen to Mount Saint Michel. The cooking felt both classic and inventive, and every dish was carefully prepared and presented. My room was roomy, comfortable, and clean, and the young family running the hotel and restaurant were a pleasure to meet. I kept thinking my wife would love this place, so I’ll bring her next time.

The €19 set menu was a treat, with a starter, main, and dessert, and I enjoyed every course. I had an éclair with parmesan and wasabi mousse, then chicken with sweet potato purée, pak choi, and pesto. For dessert, the “Island Couple” paired coconut and lemon ice cream with roasted pineapple and coconut macaroons. There really is something for everyone. We were just passing through, and this turned out to be the perfect place to stop. The decor is distinctive but thoughtfully put together, the setting is pleasant, and the staff are fantastic. It's also a hotel, so you can stay and take in the lovely walks nearby. I highly recommend the restaurant, but come see it for yourself.
