B&B HOTEL Martigues Port-de-Bouc

A handy base if you're planning to take the train along the Côte Bleue each day.

The bed was decent and the room was clean enough to earn the second star, but the rest was disappointing. There isn't a parking lot, just street parking, and spaces get hard to find among all the nearby apartment blocks. We asked twice for a quiet room, first when booking and again when we arrived, yet got one by the lifts on the first floor. Doors kept slamming downstairs. The toilet also had an unpleasant rust stain. And the hotel isn't in Martigues at all, it's in Port du Bouc, two very different towns, so that description is misleading.

I was there for nearly a month and had a very good stay. The rooms are simple, but well made and kept really clean with housekeeping every day. The marina is right next door, and there's a pleasant feel to the area, with around 10 bars and restaurants within 100 meters.

The staff made the extended stay a lovely experience. The receptionist and cleaning crew were genuinely kind and helpful, kinder than I've come across at any other hotel chain. The only thing that caught us out was the reception schedule. We had hoped someone would be available around the clock whenever we needed help. Still, the team and service were great.
