Hôtel L'Edgar

The rooms are clean and spacious, and the staff are lovely. Great service.

This is the place to live.

The meal was really good, and that was the only positive. The room was in deplorable condition: there was no heating, so we were far too cold to sleep at all. Housekeeping was poor too. We couldn't tell whether the dust had been missed or just done badly, and the shower was very dirty. They charged us for two pizzas at €15 each, even though we'd ordered one pizza and a salad at different prices. A strange way to bill it. We were meant to stay two nights, but after just one we moved to another hotel. I gave it one star only because the rating wouldn't let me give none.

The bed was very comfortable, and the cleaning staff were friendly. The booking service, though, needs work. I booked by phone in May for an August stay and got confirmation emails. Then, three days before we were due to arrive, I got a voicemail at 11:00 AM confirming the stay, followed by another at 4:00 PM canceling it. If there’s doubt about a booking, contact people sooner. At the very least, give them 24 hours’ notice before canceling. Our holiday ended up two days shorter because the reserved room wasn’t available on the first and last days of the trip. They didn’t apologize or offer compensation. The reception staff were terrible, disinterested, and didn’t even acknowledge guests at check-out. Breakfast cost €14, which was overpriced for such a limited selection.
