Hôtel Aiglon Bylitis

The three women at reception were wonderful, kind and helpful, and I especially appreciated them travelling alone in Corsica. I chose this place because it was one of the most affordable options in Porto vecchio for my dates. It was easy to get around on foot, with the citadel and port both accessible. The room was clean and quiet, though there was a faint musty smell in the bathroom. I didn't see any Wi-Fi, but I never asked, so it may have been available. Honestly, who needs it on holiday anyway? Some of the bad reviews seem to come from people with very high expectations. Thanks to the hotel team, I'd happily stay again.

We booked two rooms with balconies just a couple of hours before arriving, and they were very clean with new showers. The staff were so friendly, and they let us use the garage for our motorcycles. The port is only a three minute walk away. Breakfast was good too, served at the table rather than as a buffet.

A terrible stay, and far too expensive for what you get. They don't offer a special rate for solo travellers. I had to catch an 8am bus the next morning, right when breakfast service began, but they wouldn't give even ten minutes of flexibility. I paid for two breakfasts and got neither. Then, during my last hour there, we had no electricity, and nobody could restore it until the owner came to the hotel.

The hotel is well placed, the Wi-Fi was great, and the staff helped us find bus and activity information easily. Still, a dirty coffee cup was left in our room for over a day because the cleaner forgot it. The bigger frustration was ordering pizza. I asked reception about delivery, and she suggested a pizza place. Its menu was in French, so I explained the pizzas I wanted, used a translator for one, and she placed the order for us. One pizza arrived wrong. She said the restaurant insisted it was correct and nothing could be done, then offered no help or accountability. We didn't eat the pizza she'd ordered, so I paid for food I couldn't use. Her response made the whole thing ten times more annoying.
