Hôtel le Belvédère

We've dined at the Belvedere a few times before and been really impressed, but this meal didn't meet that standard. They wouldn't serve us carafe water, insisting on their filtered water at €3 euros per litre bottle. Then we were told either everyone had to get menus or nobody could. Some dishes were fantastic, including ceviche de daurade and carpaccio de thon, and others were very good, like the grilled octopus, entrecôte and agneau. The table bread was stale, though, and the roasted potatoes were almost burnt. We wanted a sans-faute and this wasn't it.

Really good value for the price, with a great location and restaurant. There are only a few rooms, so it doesn't feel busy. The service was great, especially Beatrice at breakfast, who was so lovely. Highly recommend it.

The complex looks really nice, and the rooms are small but okay. We had ants streaming along outside the entrance and across the chairs and table. I asked reception to send someone, but nobody came, so I bought poison myself. The restaurant has a lovely atmosphere, though the prices felt higher than the quality. We sat by the pool on a slightly windy day and an employee took the umbrella down after five minutes. To me, this place is overrated.

One staff member was especially welcoming and tried to make things pleasant, but our week at the Belvedere Hotel was a letdown. There was a damp, musty smell in the room even though it looked clean, and mold in the bathroom made it feel unpleasant and unhygienic. Breakfast was limited and unappetizing, so mornings were disappointing too. Given the problems and the price, I can't recommend it for a comfortable, hassle-free stay. It wasn't worth the trouble.
