Hôtel Macarena

The payment issue was unacceptable: even though we’d paid online, we were charged again when we arrived because the hotel said it didn’t accept online payments. We’d booked several rooms, and found them dirty, poorly insulated, with cleanliness problems and a broken toilet. Breakfast was mediocre and the amount was far too small for the price. At €90 a night, the services didn’t justify the cost. The hotel was accommodating in some ways, but the stay was disappointing.

For €120, I expected more. The room was very basic and the towel rack was broken. Dinner came down to pizza or pizza, and the carafe of red wine was a bit harsh. Breakfast was very standard, with no dairy, cold cuts, or fruit. I’ve had much better overnight stays.

It’s a shame, because the hotel is quiet, fairly well located, and the decor is decent. The room itself was dirty, with lots of dust beneath the bed and a floor in poor condition. In the bathroom there was hair and other debris on the floor, plus a cobweb on the beam. The shower cubicle’s sealant and glass were in terrible shape.

The food was generous for the price, and the room was decent. The welcome felt friendly and warm. A good stop for work or for visiting the area.
