The weather was disappointing, so we couldn't make use of the pool. Still, the guest room was comfortable, spotlessly clean, and had very good bedding. Having a kitchen was a nice extra, and breakfast was hearty, especially Karen's delicious jam. Jean was warm and welcoming, with a great sense of humor.

The view of Château Monbadon, framed by the vineyards of Jean's sister-in-law, was magnificent. We also loved having romantic aperitifs on the terrace at sunset. Jean and his daughter were kind, attentive, discreet, and calm. They even gave us a bottle of wine from her vineyard, which was very thoughtful since we love wine and had come to the area to visit vineyards. The cat and dog were both incredibly friendly. We stayed for three nights in September 2023. There was plenty to read, including books and comics, and the two single beds pushed together were clean, though rather firm and only moderately comfortable. The house we rented felt dated and well used. Some doors wobbled and didn't shut fully, the decor was old fashioned, there was dampness, and the lighting was poor. I suggested brighter bulbs so you could see better in every room, including the kitchen. Breakfast was very frugal: each of us got a pastry and a small baguette, with two jams, butter, coffee, and tasteless orange juice. I expected a little more, which was a shame. The pool water was very cold in mid-September, at 23C/75F. Also, even when booking through Booking.com, the final payment is made in cash to the host. I'd recommend this place to people who love wine and don't need fancy, chic accommodation. Thank you to Jean and his daughter.

The hosts were unexpectedly friendly, and the place felt like a paradise outside of time. We stayed on July 14th this year and were struck by their expertise and savoir-faire. It comes close to perfection. We’d almost hesitate to recommend it, only because we’d want to be sure we could return ourselves.

A wonderful place to unwind, truly idyllic. The hosts were unbelievably kind. We’ll definitely return.
