The one small issue with the room was that the bathroom ventilation wasn’t ideal, and sometimes unpleasant odors reached the anteroom. Given the age of the building, that’s understandable. There was also some confusion in the confirmation emails, partly because I’d booked a single night’s stay and a dinner package for the second night. Several messages showed partial prices for the different services in a somewhat disorganized way. Neither point affected the experience overall. We stayed two nights, tried an à la carte tasting at the bar, and had dinner at Klima restaurant. The whole staff, starting with the Leflaive brothers themselves, made us feel warmly welcome while remaining professional. At many other high-end places, courtesy can feel formal or superficial. At Leflaive, everyone seemed to genuinely share a desire to make guests happy. More than a positive experience.

The staff are very friendly and try to help where they can, and you can park around the square in front of the hotel. In this tiny Burgundy village, the hotel and restaurant celebrate a world-famous wine heritage. A stay here should include a meal at Klima, with some excellent wine. It must be one of the quietest hotels in France.

Letitia, the lead manager, was attentive and warm. Our sommelier Claire was charming throughout dinner, a real gem. I must admit I was smitten by her presence and elegance. Merci beaucoup mademoiselle. During dinner service, the affable Patrick made his rounds and kept us amused with his trademark humour and wit. Julie came over for a chat while we had our pre-dinner drinks, and we felt honoured by her presence at our table. Kudos! We had the most wonderful, warm dining experience at Klima Restaurant. The hospitality felt wholeheartedly genuine. 5 etoiles! We’ll definitely be back next time.

The rooms are cosy and comfortable, with lovely views over the square just off leafy Place du Monument in Puligney-Montrachet. We also had a business issue to sort out, and Aurelio went out of his way to find the right person. It was resolved by the nicest notaire I’ve ever met. We come to Olivier Leflaive whenever we travel to Greece for the summer, and we love it every time. The staff’s warm hospitality comes from the top down, from Julie and Aurelio to Sophie, Rachael and Pauline at the front desk. Leticia and Almandine have a great team in the restaurant, too. We love the fine dining at Restaurant Klima. The food is superb, definitely Michelin quality, and the service is lovely and full of personality. Arthur was a star this year, describing each dish in detail with flair and a twinkle. We’re already planning next year’s trip and hope to stay three nights on the way home instead of two.
