Le Lion Verd

We were touring by motorcycle and stopped in for a drink. Sitting by the river with that beautiful view was lovely. My cappuccino came in a big mug with biscuits for both of us, and my wife got lemonade in a large glass. The drinks were a good size and the service friendly, which really impressed us. We didn't eat, but the couple beside us did, and their food looked very nice. Highly recommend stopping here.

Even on a quiet Monday, the restaurant staff were friendly and attentive. There was a great menu, and everything we ate was tasty and solid, with generous portions.

Last week, on a sunny evening, we went back for a few drinks outside the hotel by the river, and it felt like old times. My family has been coming to the Lion Verd for the twenty years we've had a holiday home near Putanges. It's in a lovely spot beside the River Orne, sharing a big free car park with the town hall and local shops. The Lion Verd has changed owners a couple of times in recent years, and that disrupted the hotel, bar, and restaurant. It was often shut in the afternoons, so we stopped going. It's too early to know what the future holds, but we're hopeful we'll visit more often again. Let's hope so.
