The location was handy, about a three-minute walk from the tourist office and a good 8-10 minutes from the town center and sea. There are four spaces in front of the apartment, plus a nearby parking lot. The stay itself was poor: the apartment was dirty throughout and badly cleaned, and the bathroom was moldy with too little storage. The mezzanine bed was uncomfortable, and its cathedral ceiling makes it unsuitable for tall people. The neighbor's huge Doberman barked at everything, and the fence is only 80 cm high, so the dog could easily come down and bite you or your dog. Responses took too long, and when I complained, the landlord stopped communicating and said the low price reflected the need for renovations.
Quend itself is nice, but I'd avoid this place. The owner seemed to ignore the problems, and Booking.com was no help either. The apartment was cramped and filthy, with mold on about half the things, dog hair everywhere, spiders and cobwebs, and a swampy smell mixed with cheap bleach. Our own dog wouldn't even settle in the dog hair. Getting up to the bedroom felt dangerous, and the room itself was more tomb-like than cozy. The shower grout was awful and the bathroom so humid even Yoda wouldn't stay there. A neighbor's dog barked nonstop whenever you walked by, and the neighbor looked like she'd stepped out of a horror movie. On arrival, the residence's Dobby, a cleaning lady, complained constantly about her job before we'd barely come inside. We'd booked the tiny, remote apartment through Booking.com, supposedly in what was once a garage of this "villa," and the photos versus reality made for a stellar surprise. At the end, Dobby came asking for 20 euros for the cleanest thing of the whole stay, our dog. Outrageous. I hope the "villa" closes soon.
Waking up among the pine trees was so peaceful. The apartment is surrounded by nature, and I had a wonderful stay in Quend Plage. I highly recommend it!
The apartment had spiders and cobwebs everywhere, and the blinds were badly damaged. Several spotlights were out, while the mezzanine railing was extremely wobbly. Outside, only one privacy screen remained on the patio, with two large screws sticking out dangerously. The patio door handle broke during our stay, so we couldn't get directly onto the patio. The shower door wouldn't open fully and was missing a cover at the top of its track; its drain also left water pooled, and the silicone sealant was blackened. Other tenants have made similar complaints, but the owner hasn't repaired things. After I messaged through Booking.com, she told me to contact my insurance about the broken handle, saying she hadn't received my calls or texts.
This was our second stay in the villa, in the large apartment downstairs, and I'd gladly come back again. It's close to the beach, has lovely grounds that are great for dogs, and the owner is easy to reach by phone.
