Château de Raray

The castle looked lovely lit up, but getting from the parking lot to the market was dark and there were no signs. Inside, the stalls were easy to see in about fifteen minutes, with only around ten visitors there. One vendor told me just eight people had come on Friday and Saturday was also disappointing. Even the sausage seller had already packed up. Such a shame for the artisans who showed up. I’d gone because the first Christmas market at Raray Castle sounded promising: a jazz band, artisan chalets, and Saturday opening until 10 pm. It ran Friday through Sunday, but I hadn’t seen any banners or other publicity. I’d hoped a night market would draw a bigger crowd, even with so many Christmas markets around. Maybe it wasn’t advertised enough. If they hold it again next year, I hope they do more to bring people in.
