Cis De Champagne - Hostel

For the price, this is probably what you'd expect in Reims. It's well located and the reception staff were friendly, but the kitchen staff were lousy. It's a hostel suited to modest backpackers or pupils on their first school trip. Rooms are very small, and some don't have a toilet.

We found it calm, quiet, and pretty clean, with underground bike storage that was also handy for drying our tent. It was an easy place to reach from the canal route after a few days of cycle camping from Arras. The cathedral is a flat 20-minute walk along mostly pedestrian streets, and nearly all the downtown sights are within that same distance. Recommended for some R&R.

The staff were very friendly and gave us all the help and advice we needed. Our room was clean and tidy, surprisingly spacious, and the bathroom was clean and functional. We were just there for a night on our way to Germany. For the price it was good, though breakfast was average at best and could have been better.

I booked a private room with its own bathroom, and it was very clean and comfortable, with a nice garden view. It's a good, reasonably priced hostel near the city centre, and there's free parking on the street out front. I didn't visit Reims itself, but the location looked convenient for getting into the centre.
