Le Bon Moine

We stopped in Reims for one night and had drinks and food at this bar. The food was fantastic and great value.

I paid €75 a night at Hotel Le Bon Moine and came away deeply disappointed. The room was dated and in poor shape, and the cleaning seemed superficial. There was a spider and web in a corner and dust in several places, as shown in my attached photos. Noise carried throughout the hotel, from footsteps in the corridor to slamming doors, and I couldn’t sleep properly. For the same price, I’ve stayed elsewhere with much better service and comfort. The experience was so subpar that I wouldn’t recommend this hotel to anyone.

The owner was super friendly and greeted us with complimentary sangria, which was exactly what we needed after arriving late on a cold, rainy November night when almost everything was closed. We’d been looking in vain for a cozy hotel with a restaurant. The couscous and lamb were delicious, and we slept extremely well. It’s basic but clean, warm, and comfortable, and quiet despite being central, though I imagine it’s noisier in summer. The gorgeous cathedral is a quick walk away, and paid Cathedrale Parking is right across the road, which is especially handy if you’re driving. We’ll definitely stay here next time we drive back to the UK. I always wish we had more time in Reims, such a lovely and historically important town.

I stopped in for a drink. The bartender was very rude, almost aggressive. I wouldn’t recommend it.
