Campanile Rennes Centre - Gare

We’d strongly recommend this hotel, which is very close to Rennes train station. Our room was perfect, and the staff were friendly and helpful.

We were very happy with our two nights in Room 310. It was quiet and clean, with a large comfortable bed and crisp white linen. The bathroom was good, with a rain shower head and another head on a rail, though the towels were on the small side. The tea supplies were a bit disappointing, with no milk or creamers for us Brits. The corridor carpets could use more frequent vacuuming, and the hotel’s color scheme reminded me of Holiday Inn Express. The location is great, right by the train station and the first-rate metro. Staff were friendly and spoke English. We didn’t have breakfast here.

The bedding was great and breakfast was good, but the night receptionist was very rude and unfriendly.

The common areas were cosy and available to use at any time, and our room felt spacious. It had a kettle, hangers and extra bedding. Soap and shampoo were supplied, but there were no toothbrushes or toothpaste. You could buy them for 4 euros, though the toothpaste packet only lasted for two uses. They provided paper cups, and I would’ve preferred glass or ceramic ones. The temperature was controlled centrally, and it got very cold inside at night, around 15 degrees in October. It felt warmer outside when we left in the morning. Staff were very polite and friendly, and spoke English well, so communication was easy. The location was excellent, about a three-minute walk from the bus station for Mont st Michel, with lovely places to eat nearby. The old town was around eight minutes on foot, and there was a direct local bus to the airport. Breakfast was about 12 or 13 euros, I think. It had the usual yogurt, cheeses, bread, crepes and eggs you could poach yourself. The fresh-squeezed orange juice was amazing, and the price seemed very reasonable.
