Côté rivière - Petit coin de verdure

The hostel was very clean and conveniently located. One night we got back late from a school trip with 9 hungry, noisy college students and 8 pizza boxes. Maree was really understanding and kindly gave us water. I couldn't recommend the place more.

My room had a little balcony over the canal, which was lovely. The place is spotless, the people are really nice, and it's close to everything on a very quiet street.

The dorm mates mostly kept to themselves, which was fine since I wasn't looking for a party hostel. Space is tight in the rooms, and the bathroom is tiny, especially the cramped toilets. Still, the hostel feels homey, has a cozy little bar, and is in a good part of Rennes. The price was fair, and reception helpfully explained how to catch a bus to Mont St. Michel. A good stay if small rooms don't bother you.

I liked the small balcony in my room, and the hotel is convenient and pleasant. The staff were kind enough to give me hot water for instant noodles, and I could speak English with them without feeling looked down on. But I left my coat on a kitchen seat after lunch, only noticed the next day, and it was gone. I asked the hotel to look for it, but they eventually said they couldn't find it. I don't know how hard they tried, and I was sad that it didn't feel like much effort was made to help. I know I was responsible for leaving it and have to accept the loss. It was a brand-new coat from a famous NZ brand, worth at least 100 NZD. Still, I think the hotel staff could have done more.
