Hôtel Restaurant Gastronomique La Huchette

We’ve stayed here twice as a stop on our yearly trip south, and it’s so handy for the highway while still being peaceful. There’s a big garden and a refreshing pool, and the rooms are lovely and spacious. The staff were very accommodating. We also had a great evening eating outside at the on-site restaurant, where they had a kids menu too. Would definitely recommend it.

For a single night, the hotel is okay. The room was big and about 4/5 clean, but it badly needs refurbishment. It feels very old inside, and there’s a stale old smell. We only found out afterward that the restaurant has a Michelin star. The food looked good, though the taste was questionable, and service was slow overall. The experience didn’t live up to what I’d expect from a Michelin-level place. Rather than making excuses in advance, they should improve the hotel and let the feedback follow 🙃

The room was spacious and the bed was good quality, but the food was the main draw for us. We chose the “Huchette” and it was exceptionally good, with lovely attention to detail and vegetables used well. A reasonably priced bottle of Santenay made the whole meal even better. Many thanks to the kitchen and hotel staff!

I finally made it back to La Huchette after often thinking about returning. I was last here with my parents over 35 years ago, and this week’s overnight stay was great. The recently renovated rooms are lovely and super comfortable. I took their mid-week soirée etape offer for solo travellers and had a 2-course menu that was really more than two courses. Every mouthful was delicious and beautifully presented, and the service was excellent. They made both me and my small dog feel very welcome. I’m looking forward to coming back.
