There’s a lovely sunny courtyard and garden, plus a 17th-century village bakery and oven. If you’re lucky, it gets fired up two or three times in the summer. The place itself is small and intimate, with three rooms, each with an ensuite bathroom. Our hosts have spent most of the past 30 years living in France, so they know the Champagne region really well. They can recommend vineyards to visit and places to eat, all within a 30-45 minute drive.

This is a place where you meet people from all over at a very generously laid-out breakfast table. There are different spots to sit, and the guest fridge makes it easy to have something you bought yourself, or champagne from the region as an aperitif or last drink of the day. The hosts are wonderful and have great stories. They’re also very helpful with finding your next place to stay, or places to visit and eat. This isn’t a B&B in the usual sense. I’ll be back soon.

The owners, Bill and Meredith, made us feel warmly welcomed and really cared about our comfort. They enjoy sharing their culture, their photography passion, and the history of the region. Breakfast was generous, varied and very convivial. The building is very old but beautifully restored, tucked at the foot of the hills not far from the Marne River. Inside, the lounge and bedrooms are decorated with care and refinement. It’s a peaceful spot and a great base for exploring, especially the Champagne wine route. We’ve extended our stay or returned several times because the setting makes you want to, and we’ve never been disappointed. Highly recommended!
