Château de Thuriés

I knew the château before Jayne and Steve bought it, and the work they’ve done is amazing, inside and out. There’s a huge garden with beautiful trees, and the place would be ideal for weddings or other events. Jayne and Steve are so lovely that it’s hard not to fall for the venue.

We only had a long weekend at Chateau de Thuriès, and it felt far too short. Jayne and Steve, along with Alfie the dog, welcomed us like friends, and the whole place feels comfortable and homely, with good taste but no fuss. We’re in our sixties and were there for a birthday; we loved the chateau, and its romantic feel would also suit a wedding, honeymoon, anniversary, or just a peaceful break. Our Nature Suite looked out over the garden and was spacious, with its own character and Steve’s photographs of butterflies. Jayne’s eye for detail is clear throughout the guest rooms. There are five suites, all restored with care and elegance, while the public rooms have a calm, gentle beauty. When Jayne and Steve told us to make ourselves at home, they meant it. They did everything they could to help us settle in, and shared local knowledge that led to three fantastic restaurant recommendations and tips for a scenic drive to Carcassonne. They’re charming and very good company. We left feeling we’d made friends and will return as soon as we can. Thank you, Jayne and Steve.

The chateau was so peaceful, and the open fires made it feel even more perfect. Steve & Jane welcomed us right away and showed us to a magnificent room overlooking a garden so large it could be called a park. The setting is great for exploring, and the information they provided was really useful. Their restaurant suggestions suited different tastes and budgets. We can’t wait to come back in summer and explore more. Thanks, it was fab.

We had such a lovely time at Chateau Thuries. The owners made us feel very welcome, the rooms are beautifully done, and breakfast was delicious.
