Maison d'hôtes Ferme de la Commanderie

We spent a week with friends in the Vaucluse and loved the peaceful setting among lavender, vineyards, and truffle orchards. The owner greeted us warmly and gave us great tips for restaurants and charming markets nearby. The big pool was just right for long, cicada-sound naps.

Hello, I'm posting my comment again because it was removed, and I still don't know why. We had arranged two rooms for our family, with two adults and a child, and for our parents, four adults. We specifically asked whether we could cancel without a penalty because our parents are elderly and their health made the trip from Reunion Island uncertain. That possibility was one of the reasons we picked this guesthouse. Sadly, they couldn't leave Reunion Island after all. When we tried to cancel, we were told it wasn't possible, and the response felt both rude and in bad faith. I can't recommend the place. It seemed the hosts cared more about the money than about our family's well-being during the stay. Sincerely, A family member

The owner welcomed us so warmly, and we had a lovely stay. We asked, and she prepared a delicious platter for our arrival, which we enjoyed by the pool. The truffle omelette was especially good. We'd gladly recommend this guesthouse. Thank you!

We booked this charming guesthouse because we'd been told we could get our deposits back if COVID prevented the family from traveling. We had made clear that there was a real chance the family couldn't fly from the French overseas departments, and we canceled just two days after booking when that happened. The host had been friendly up to then, but refused to stick to the verbal agreement and kept our deposits. You could say that was within her rights, but we'd chosen the place specifically because of the promised refund. I'm updating my original comment in response to your reply: getting an answer from you a year and a half later hardly helped us remember you. And yes, madam, I'm still resentful and angry. Your conduct was more than dishonest. I hope other guests don't have a disappointing stay. If something does go wrong, this dishonest and malicious person will find a way to keep as much of your money as possible.
