Art Hôtel Rochecorbon

After nine years of charging at Tesla Superchargers, this was the first time I was refused access to a restroom. I was charging my vehicle nearby and went into the hotel while I waited, but the receptionist said the facilities were for hotel guests only. It was disappointing to be turned away while supporting the location by using its charging station. From what I saw afterward, I wasn’t the only person refused. The policy leaves the impression that drivers are expected to relieve themselves outside.

The receptionist’s attitude bothered me most. She smiled, but came across as very arrogant. The hotel is beside a Tesla Super Charger, and they charge €2.50 per person to use the toilet, even for small children. A family of four would pay €10 just for restroom access. I’ve charged about 100 times at different places, mostly Tesla Super Chargers beside hotels, and I’ve always been able to use the restrooms without paying extra. I’ve never had service this bad in Europe. Ridiculous. Please avoid this place.

We’ve stopped here often to charge the car and enjoy coffee on the terrace before setting off again. This time we stayed overnight. The room was comfortable and well equipped, and the welcome was friendly and helpful. The staff recommended La Table de Joseph nearby and booked us in for an excellent evening. There’s plenty of good service and little to fault. My only personal reservation is that the modern atmosphere feels a bit much in a traditional building. I’m someone who likes old historic places, though. Thanks, Art Hotel, for a very enjoyable stay and for looking after us.

I got caught paying an overpriced amount to use the toilets as a Tesla driver, but that didn’t take away from the hotel itself. The woman at reception was lovely and chatted with us about our travels. If paying to use the toilets doesn’t suit you, charge somewhere else.
