That terrace was a real treat in the 39°C heat, which had been hanging around for five days. We stayed two nights at Hôtel Fernoux Coutenet in this charming little village. The hotel is pleasant and unpretentious, with a lovely bar and a large room attached to it. No air conditioning in the rooms, unfortunately, though the owner was friendly and Donovan, a fantastic young waiter, was a great part of our stay. He turns 19 on June 30th, happy birthday to him, and his English is perfect. Breakfast was hearty with plenty of variety. We also had dinner there twice. The local menu included pike fillet with beurre blanc, plus 50cl carafes of Arbois Chardonnay and Grenache, followed by ice cream and Chantilly cream. The price was very attractive. We highly recommend the place.
