It’s an old building with plenty of room for improvement, in my opinion. I got the hot water and a good shower I wanted, and the bed was comfortable. Breakfast wasn’t bad either. The room, though, wasn’t really clean and could have been much better, and I never got the WiFi to work. The staff weren’t great with me, though I don’t know if that’s because I’m English. That’s why I’ve given it a three. If you’re after a cheap room, fill your boots, but I wouldn’t choose it for anything else. Sorry, no photos, just get inspired.

We had lunch here in July, and the owner came across as very arrogant. He kept saying everything was freshly prepared on the premises. My wife ordered scallops that were off, and I could taste ammonia too. She quietly let him know, but instead of apologising he insisted they were fresh, saying they’d been imported from Scotland “6 days ago”. To me, fresh means no more than a day old. He zeroed the bill, threw it at us and told us to leave, saying he ran the place for the love of cooking, not for money.

The evening meals at the restaurant were superb, and the hotel was good and comfortable. Great value for money too. The host and staff were all very friendly and helpful.

The restaurant was closed on the night we were in Roscoff before an early ferry, and staffing levels are an issue at the moment. We did find an excellent Chinese meal instead, so that was a silver lining.

I’d book direct through the website for the best price. The room was clean, comfortable and affordable, and dinner in the restaurant was exquisite.
