I’m shocked by how this was handled. I offered to pay in advance and provide proof of receipt, and you said there was no need when I offered to send it by registered mail. I trusted you, and now I’m being told I didn’t prepay. What bad faith. I booked before the “English” group, who haven’t been in touch since, but they booked through Booking.com and apparently take priority. I wanted to book directly to support our own country and region, even though it’s much harder to arrange. Instead, I spent hours on the phone, only to hear, “Well, I’ll manage,” and that it wasn’t her problem anymore. She said she’d found another gîte for me, but it was the other one I’d chosen. It’s a shame there’s no way to reply directly. I was trying to do the right thing, and naively thought the trust went both ways. I was wrong. I’ll tell my son not to trust people, and that an all-inclusive trip abroad is a better bet than staying in our own region. I know where I won’t book from now on. I’m extremely disappointed.
