B&B Hotel Lille Roubaix Centre Grand-Place

The staff were friendly and helpful, ready to answer questions and suggest places to visit. Breakfast was fresh and satisfying, with a good choice. The room was clean, modern, and comfortable, with a cozy bed, strong Wi-Fi, and air conditioning that worked perfectly after a warm day out. B&B Hotel Roubaix is close to Outlet, with shops, restaurants, and public transport a short walk away, so it made a good base for exploring. It was affordable and good value, and I'd stay again.

We checked in on my birthday during a cycling holiday, after riding 160 km to get there. The hotel was 28°C outside and even hotter inside, with the air conditioning not working. We told reception, but they didn't check it or offer another room, just handed us a small desk fan. We decided to leave and asked for a refund. The receptionist rolled her eyes and asked why we wanted air conditioning, saying “it's not hot.” She wouldn't or couldn't refund us. We had to find another hotel at short notice and were left out of pocket. I don't understand why that staff member works in customer service. Mercure around the corner costs more, but the experience is vastly better.

After cycling all day, I arrived to find the advertised air conditioning wasn't working. It was August and the room was so hot, even with the small fan they gave me. They said a refund wasn't possible when I asked, and also said I couldn't speak to a manager. I had to leave and look for another hotel in a city I didn't know. I'm still trying to arrange a refund, but getting nowhere because the hotel is claiming the AC worked fine. Very poor service. It's a shame, since I always use Ibis. I wouldn't recommend this hotel because of the service.

The room was small, but I was on my own, so it was plenty big enough, and it was very quiet. The bed was very comfortable, the hotel was clean, and the shower was excellent. When I checked in on an incredibly hot day, the staff gave me a glass of water straight away, and the welcome was great. The hotel is close to the metro, with plenty of restaurants nearby, including one attached to it. My only criticism is the odor as you walk in. I'd happily stay again.
