La Maison Bleue

We had a superb Paris Roubaix weekend at Christophe's B&B. Even though we arrived fairly late, he welcomed us warmly and had the room ready, including a large cot for our one year old. He also arranged an early breakfast before the amateur cycling challenge. The house itself has a style that reminded me of my grandma's home in nearby West Flanders. It's interesting how that way of building crosses borders in this region. Christophe shared plenty of stories about Nord Pas de Calais, especially his love of cycling, which you can feel throughout the house. On Sunday we visited nearby La Piscine, which was impressive, then got lucky and watched the race from the velodrome grass in the spring sunshine. Thanks, Christophe. We'd love to come back another year and do it all again!

We reserved a room for three through a platform. Afterward, la Maison Bleue emailed to say we had to pay an extra 110€ on top of the confirmed amount. When I called the platform, La maison bleue canceled our booking without saying anything further. That's unbelievably rude.

We spent eight really pleasant days at the Maison Bleue while visiting Roubaix to film at Plaine Images, just 10 minutes from the hotel. Christophe was a thoughtful host who listened to his guests and was keen to share the region's culinary heritage. It was a great time spent together.
