Hôtel Dandy

We had a comfortable, warm room that seemed recently updated, with a good-sized bathroom and an excellent shower. Everyone on staff was really friendly. We stayed one night in February, and parking was easy in the square's underground garage, just a few minutes' walk away. I'd stay here again next time I'm in Rouen.

We slept really well in the separate beds in our triple room, even though there were only two of us. The bedding felt luxurious, and the clawfoot tub was both classy and relaxing. The room was spotless, beautifully refreshed in a classical style, and full of thoughtful finishes, right down to the sea-creature chrome cup holder. Whoever picked them has a great eye. For three weeks in France, this was probably the nicest place we stayed, and it was reasonably priced too. The location was great, and parking wasn't bad for a medieval city centre. I can't recommend it enough, and I'm very picky. Only wish I'd taken photos before we made a mess of the room!

We stayed in the triple room at the back, and it was very quiet. The beds were comfortable and clean, and the room was spotless. Staff were lovely and welcomed our dog. The location is ideal, with everything close by, and underground parking is a two-minute walk away at €15 per 24 hours. The room's old-fashioned look suits the old town, so don't let that put you off. The one thing we didn't care for was having just a bath with a handheld shower attachment.

The antiques in the room were lovely, and having toasters on every breakfast table was a highlight for my wife. The hotel sits in a lovely central spot on a mostly pedestrian street. I don't think I'd have wanted a standard room, since the bathroom already felt pretty dated.
